Powerful Software

Silhouette Studio is the most robust and versatile cutting design software on the market. With features usually found in high-end illustration software and features that are easy to use, it’s been a great addition to my design arsenal for any project I have.

Silhouette Studio offers many ways to customize your project and features plug-ins that you can use with Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator.

The Cameo 4 machine features a dual carriage that will help you identify the type of tool detected. You can also benefit from this machine’s sensor technology that detects what tool you’re using and automatically adjusts cut settings for you.

Improvements from Cameo 3

Cutting speed

Silhouette Cameo 4 has improved the cutting speed from Cameo 3. It features 3x cutting speed with straight lines.

Three sizes

It is available in 12″, 15″, or 20″ sizes. 15″ model and 20″ model is known as CAMEO Plus and CAMEO Pro.

More force

The new version is 25% more powerful than the Cameo 3 and allows crafters to make deeper cuts.

New design

Silhouette made some critical design changes to the tool-holding carriage on their Cameo 4. This significantly increases the machine’s capability with new cutting tools, like the rotary blade for fabrics & deep-cut crafting blades. It also helps generate projects quicker.

my Experience

I purchased this cutting tool to assist with the creation of architectural models using card stock, as well as for occasional birthday card making.

With the correct blade setting, it offers impressive precision with an accuracy of 0.1mm. This tool effortlessly cuts arches as small as 3mm in diameter and squares down to 1.5mm. As I work with a 1:220 scale, this feature is especially valuable to me.

Whether I’m cutting inkjet-printed card stock, vinyl stock, or sticker paper, it performs exceptionally well.

The Studio design software may have a slight learning curve, similar to that of other popular tools such as Photoshop, but it is a powerful tool once you become familiar with it.

The basic version does have a few limitations, such as the lack of size indicators for shapes already drawn on the fly, although the size can be found in the menu bar at the top.

Even with these quirks, I haven’t come across a task I couldn’t do with a little help from online help or user groups.

Silhouette Cameo 4 price

It costs around $300 to buy Silhouette Cameo 4. However, the price varies depending upon the bundles you buy. Most Cameo bundles are available in the $300-$400 range.
